CORRUPTION KILLS THE RICH AND THE POOR.

CORRUPTION KILLS THE RICH AND THE POOR.

Activist and humanitarian, Aroms Aigbehi has blamed corruption in the Nigeria’s system for the death of Tinubu’s son, Jide and the health crisis of ex-VP, Alex Ekwueme.
In a message he shared on Facebook, Aiggehi noted that corruption is killing both the poor and the rich in Nigeria, adding that Jide wouldn’t have died in other countries where corruption is less.
According to him, no matter how rich the person is in Nigeria, it would be difficult to fly someone in coma out of the country.
"He wrote, “A while back, I wrote and spoke about how corruption destroys the lives of people in Nigeria. Not just the poor but everyone."
“So I read in the papers this morning that Bola Tinubu lost his first son. That must be devastating. He reportedly slumped and died which is a sign of a heart attack. My brother in law got a heart attack two weeks ago in The Netherlands.
“The ambulance was at his house within 5 minutes
and they rushed him to the hospital and stabilised
him for days before he was operated. some of his

arteries were blocked. He is back home now
already walking around.

“No matter how rich you are in Nigeria you cannot
fly out of the country during a heart attack.
“I also read that Dr. Alex Ekwueme is in coma. He
was also one of those who ruled Nigeria before and
didn’t build our medical system.
“The governor of his state is thinking of flying him
out of the country for treatment. It is hard to fly
someone in coma out of the country.
“The same Alex Ekwueme, few months ago erosion
almost washed his home away. What a way to get
old?
“When I read all these I wonder why these people
don’t feel outraged to want to change things today.
What have to happen for our elites to say Enough is
Enough?”
“JOURNALISTs ArE THE ONLY GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT GO TO WAR WITHOUT TRAINING, WEAPONS...."
"In the bid to end the challenge of impunity in
Nigerian Journalism, Trinity Communications,
publishers of Safety and Security Watch Magazine
has held a one-day free symposium, themed; ‘Safety
of Journalists and the Challenge of Impunity in
Nigeria’.
Speaking at the symposium yesterday at NECA House
in Ikeja, Lagos, A Media Consultant/ Former
Managing Director, Champion Newspaper, Mr Emma
Agu, said the issue of impunity and clashes between
journalists and security agents can be addressed
through constructive engagement between the
security agencies and the media.
According to him; “Journalists need to be acquainted
with security imperatives and the security agencies
should understand the working of the media, outside
their perception of the way the media should
function.
This relationship would strengthen
understanding between the two professions and
reduce conflicts and causes of.”
He noted that there is need to create some features
for journalists covering certain activities by way of
insurance as there could be a disaster.
“Media
houses should create a special insurance for
Journalists covering conflict zone.”
According to him, Journalists should practice justice
and be professional. “The professional aspects
ensure that all the elements of good journalism are
put in place, the Journalist is balanced and ensures
that all the parties are well covered.”
He said the government should also show
responsibility to Journalists.
Managing Editor/ Coordinator, Trinity
Communications, Dr Amaechi Chinyere said the
symposium is to mark the 2017 World Day for Safety
of Journalists.
According to her, the aim is to create awareness on
the hazards that are embedded in the job of a
Journalist and so that the society will understand the
journalists and find a way of assisting them to do
their work better.
“The only way to bring an end to impunity is through
the law. The law is there but it is in implementing
them that we have a problem.
For years people harass journalist and employers
don’t pay them well. Journalists fight for others but
nobody cares about nor fights for them.”
The only way to stop impunity, she said, is to play by
the rules and for Nigerians to rise against impunity
wherever it occurs in the media.
She urged the government to comply with the
provisions of all laws. “All the laws against impunity
should be activated. Employers of labour should
equip their workers.
All Journalists should rise up
and begin to do our job well. We should do an
easement on the hazards of our jobs before
embarking on it,” she said.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP
Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the Police and the public
work hand in hand to achieve necessary result.
According to him, “The police have evolved over time,
we have the human face and we have increased our
form of community relationship.”
Famous-Cole disagreed with the conflict between the
media and the police, noting that they have good
relationships. “The new CP wants us to synergies
more and create a better relationship and be more
cautious to how we interact in our conduct among
civilians,” he said.
Zonal Head of Training, Zone 2, Federal Road Safety
Commission (FRSC), Lagos, Segun Akinyemi, said, the
risk in the Journalism profession can be reduced
through training, insurance understanding, advocacy
and acquiring knowledge.
“Journalists are the only group of people that go to war without training and weapons.
They go to war to cover the situation and this has to change. You as a journalist must know the danger you are going to face in a place and access it as this would help you in discharging your duties,” he said."

FAMOUS AMERICAN ACTOR SLEEPING IN THE STREET

FAMOUS AMERICAN ACTOR SLEEPING IN THE STREET

The famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger (Rambo) posted a picture of him sleeping in the street under his famous bronze statue, and wrote sadly (How times changed). The reason he wrote the sentence was not onlybecause he was old, but because when the governorof California opened the hotel with the statue in front of him.

The hotel officials told Arnold: "At any time you cancome and have a room reserved in your name".When Arnold left judgment and went to the hotel, the administration refused to give him a room arguing that the hotel was fully booked. He brought a cover and slept under the statue and asked people to imagine it.What a breach of promise !

ASUP REJECTS MAPOLY RECTOR, BOAST OF OVER 30 CHIEF LECTURERS AND 57 PHD HOLDERS

ASUP REJECTS MAPOLY RECTOR, BOAST OF OVER 30 CHIEF LECTURERS AND 57 PHD HOLDERS

The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,
Abeokuta, Thursday, prevented members of National
Executive of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics
in Nigeria from entering the school premises.
This development came following the declaration of
indefinite strike action by the Academic Staff Union of
the institution .
The National Executive Council of ASUP which
scheduled its press conference in the school on the
‘Deplorable condition of polytechnic education in
Nigeria’ had to hold it at the school gate.
The Union’s zonal Coordinator, Olawale Omobaorun
said, “they say we are not going to enter, and we are
trying to tow the line of peace, we will stay at the gate
and address the press.”
He also claimed that the state governor was after the
life of the Chairman of the MAPOLY Chapter of ASUP,
Comrade Kola Abiola.
According to him, “the government of the state is
after our chairman and that is why you are not seeing
the chairman here today”.
“Let the world know that the life of Com. Kola Abiola
is in threat. If anything happens we will be ready to
face the government.”
The ASUP in a statement by the President, Malam
Usman Dutse lamented the sorry state of polytechnic
education all over the country.
The statement, which was read by the Vice President,
Timothy Ogunseye, highlighted the significance of
Polytechnic education as well as the challenges
thereof.

He said, Polytechnic education, “if well harnessed will
boost Nigeria’s technological know-how, improve ICT,
create millions of employment opportunities and
raise the level of both theoretical and practical
technological literacy.”
The Union said governments at all levels had
subjected to annihilation the Polytechnic sector,
which according to the statement “feeds and caters
for millions of youths and families.”
It cited some issues facing the sector, which include,
‘Sorry state of State-owned institutions; ‘victimization
of Union officers; ‘withdrawal of allowances; among
others.
The statement reads in part: “Polytechnics and
monotechnics belonging to state governments have
continued to wallow in deplorable conditions”
It said chapter chairmen in various polytechnics in
the country have been sacked “in glaring cases of
victimization” while there have been no intervention.
The Union also decried what it called “Infractions in
the appointment of Rectors” citing MAPOLY as an
example.
It alleged that the new rector was a “retired school
principal with little or no experience in teaching at
the tertiary level, research and community service”.
The Union disapproved the appointment of Mr.
Saliman Tella by the state government, saying there
are more qualified personnel in the school.
It said MAPOLY can “boast of about 30 chief lecturers
with fifty seven Ph.D holders
